October 2012 saw the reintroduction and great success of the Oldham Half Marathon named The Milltown to Moors Half Marathon to celebrate the Borough of Oldham`s industrial history and wonderful position at the doorstep of the Peak District National Park.
June 2013 saw the introduction of the Oldham 10K, the route being much flatter than the strenuous half marathon and a great way for new runners to build up to the Half Marathon event in October.
June 2014 saw the introduction of the Milltown 7K to complete the series. An unusual distance of 7K was chosen to provide progression for runners who achieved their 5K parkrun and are aiming for the 10K
Race organiser Oldham Community Leisure is the primary sports and leisure provider in Oldham and is striving to increase participation in physical activities by people of all ages across the borough. By providing it’s skills and resources to organise and promote these events it is expected many more people will be motivated to take part in other future events.
